Telenursing is an emerging subspecialty, with unique challenges and risks.  Yet, it is based on the nursing process and requires the same critical thinking skills used at the bedside. Ms. Wheeler develops professional education/training programs that address essential elements and meet your staff’s training needs. TELEHEALTH RISK MANAGEMENT CONSULTATION

Due to the nature of the work, telephone triage carries above average risks. As a relatively new and developing subspecialty, staff needs to know the legal pitfalls before they begin taking calls. Ms. Wheeler will evaluate organizational risk and develop recommendations or a risk management plan.

LEGAL NURSE CONSULTING

Sheila Wheeler, RN, MS, provides legal nurse consulting services in the area of telehealth nursing for both the plaintiff and the defense. Ms. Wheeler has served as an expert in telephone triage nursing practice and as a legal consultant on approximately 20 cases since 1995.

Ms. Wheeler’s 35+ years experience includes clinical practice in critical care, emergency department and telephone triage. Ms. Wheeler has pioneered the field of telephone triage as an educator, researcher and consultant for close to 25 years. Her contributions to the field include two classic texts in telephone triage, founding a telehealth conference and developing the first age-based telehealth protocols.
