A group of physicians, philanthropists and businessmen who recognized the need for improved access to health information and advice worldwide and saw telephone-based triage as a means to provide that access formed FONEMED in 1996.  FONEMED’s Registered Nurses located throughout the United States supported by our state-of-the-art medical call centers in Canada and Puerto Rico currently serve over 8 million people.

FONEMED is a Limited Liability Corporation, organized under the laws of Missouri.  FONEMED’s headquarters are in Miami, Florida.  Its administrative offices are in Colorado Springs, Colorado. FONEMED has been fully accredited by URAC (www.urac.org) for health call center services since 2000 and is fully HIPAA-compliant.

FONEMED currently provides nurse triage and health information services to more than 2,300 client groups throughout North America and the Caribbean.  These clients represent Military and civilian government agencies, physician practices, benefits providers, hospitals, universities, TPAs, job corps centers, assistance hotlines, distributors/resellers, case management organizations and home healthcare monitoring organizations. FONEMED is the exclusive provider of nurse triage services for the Newfoundland and Labrador HealthLine and for Jitterbug Wireless whose LiveNurse program won the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association award for BEST Mobile Consumer Application of 2009 . FONEMED systems and services have also helped partners win awards from the GSM Association for Best Mobile Applications for International Development, from URAC for Best Practices in Consumer Safety and most recently the Triple-Tree Wireless and Mobile Health ‘I’ Award for Best Consumer Experience.
